An artist brand isn't a logo or a color palette. It's the reason people care about you when you don't have a song out.
Start with the real you
Be genuine. Be unapologetically you, then double, triple, and quadruple down on it. When you show your genuine self, you give people the chance to connect with the person, not just the music.
That connection is what separates a fan from a superfan. A fan likes your song while it's popular. A superfan loves you. They'll buy a ticket to see you for years, as long as they feel like they know you and are connected to you.
Why labels care
Labels see thousands of artists with good songs. What makes them lean in is an artist with a clear identity and an audience that's already attached to it. A strong brand tells them you can build a career, not just a moment.
Put your brand on paper
When your identity is clear, package it so the industry can see it quickly:
- One sheet. A single page with your story, your best numbers, your top songs, press, and contact information. It's what labels, promoters, and press look at first.
- Brand strategy document. Who you are, who your audience is, what you stand for, and how that shows up in your music, visuals, and content.
- Brand universe deck. The visual side: the look, references, colors, and world you're building, so collaborators and partners can see it at a glance.
Keep it consistent
Your brand lives in everything: your content, your captions, your shows, and how you treat people. The more consistent it is, the more recognizable you become.
